The Circle of Protection is opposing an appropriations bill that would cut assistance programs and give the President more authority to make spending decisions.
“As we read news reports of how the administration is making big changes across the government, we note that many of these changes will make life harder for low-income and vulnerable people,” says a new letter from the Circle. “This makes us wary of Congress giving yet more authority to the administration.”
This letter recounts how the administration dismantled USAID and the resulting harm to struggling people around the world. It notes that 88% of the current members of Congress identify themselves as Christian and appeals to them to protect people in need.
